In addition to serving individual municipalities, our planners assist the four
that comprise 26 municipalities. These active regional
boards continue to work effectively in addressing issues that extend beyond municipal
boundaries. We assisted those efforts through the inter-regional planning cooperative,
in which all four regions are participating. In 2016, the four regional planning
commissions focused on the preparation of the multiregional greenway study being
undertaken by our staff and the Natural Lands Trust (NLT) through a $120,000 DCNR
Grant. The focus in 2016 was on the completion of audits and field work for the
13 main street/village greenway areas and the identification of landscapes in 7 of the
10 rural greenway areas. Also in 2016, the NLT completed stewardship assessments
for about half of the 38 municipal parks and open spaces. NLT also performed field
work for the stewardship management plan it will prepare for four different portions of
Montgomery County’s Green Lane Park.
School District Enrollment Projection Services
In addition to our community contracts, in 2016 we also provided
s
for the Colonial School District, Lower Moreland School
District, Abington School District, and Cheltenham School District. An update of
a previously prepared enrollment projection study was also completed for the
Lower Merion School District. Our enrollment projection reports contain detailed
information on local development trends within the school district along with other
demographic data. In addition to preparing the report, we work closely with school
boards to aid them in making tough decisions pertaining to redistricting, staffing, and
facilities planning.
