Sustainable Places
Different actions are required to ensure that the wonderful
neighborhoods in the county continue to provide the
quality of life which makes them so attractive. Some of the
sustainable activities achieved by MCPC include:
Awarding 7 sustainable places grants in the inaugural
funding cycle of the
for green parking lot retrofits, an
historic site acquisition, green street development, a
public mural, and a wayfinding signage system
Facilitating the formation of the Wissahickon Clean
Water Partnership project including 13 municipalities
and 3 municipal wastewater treatment plants, which all
signed an intergovernmental commitment to the project
Acquiring 12 acres of parkland along the
Schuylkill River
Preserving an additional 170 acres of farmland on
4 farms and initiating the preservation of 3 more
farms through the
